Somehow I completely forgot

But it SNOWED here last week! I was dropping Layla off at school and her teacher told me that they were going to release the kids out of school early because there was a chance of snow. I thought that this was particularly weird since I'm from Ohio, and we go to school if there's snow.

But I picked her up at noon, and sure enough, four hours later it was snowing. Like, really snowing. Snowed all night in fact.

Mattie was really excited since she's never seen snow before, and Layla got a huge kick out of it!

Here they are in all their glory!

One more new wallet and I think I'm finished for awhile....

I've been on a wallet kick the last couple of days- and I know that ya'll are probably sick to death of my shameless self promotion. I swear, this is it..... and then I'll move on to all of my cute little etsy finds!

I got some new Heather Bailey fabric in today, and thought that it would make the perfect "nautical" feel wallet.

and the inside:

Some Amy Butler

I have been saving bits and scraps of some Amy Butler fabric that I couldn't throw away, but was simply too small to use.

Until today!!! I finally found a use for it:

Also, there's only two (yes 2) more days to enter the free soap giveaway! Please help me out and get rid of some of this soap! :)

Heather Bailey at her best

So I went and ordered an obscene amount of Nicey Jane fabric. I just love looking at it on my shelf and I didn't want to cut into it at all. But then, at 4am, when I woke up (because I must be insane) I thought "Maybe, just maybe I should make a cutesy little wallet out of it". And then I did.

Here are the results:

And the inside:

What do you think? Man, I hope this one sells, because I really really want someone to love it as much as I do!

stolen from miss amy- 7 things you don't know about me

This was a very cool thing that I read about on Amy's blog this morning. I've taken to waking up very very early to start working and reading blogs, and just generally being nosy.
Anyhow, she did this thing where she wrote seven things we didn't know about her, so now I'll do the same. Just because.

1. My husband and I never dated before we got married. We knew each other from elementary school and we used to hang out during and after high school. He came home from military leave during Christmas 4 years ago and we just decided to get married. So we eloped to California (where he was stationed) and we've been together ever since. And they said it would never last!

2. I took ballet for well over 10 years. Now I have really really fugly feet. It's true. You'll never see my feet. I wear socks all the time.

3. I could seriously live off of coffee and nothing else. Food generally is not important to me. My husband makes sure that I eat. I'd probably starve without him. (This is probably because I cannot cook.)

4. In third grade I tried to write a book report on Danielle Steel's book Daddy. Apparently, this was inappropriate and I had to write about To Kill a Mockingbird instead.

5. I have a habit of buying dresses and then returning them the next day. It always seems like a good idea to buy them at the time, but then I realize that I'm just a jeans and sweater/tank top kind of girl.

6. In the last ten years I have lived in 7 states. I hate to move. The next time I move into a house, I vow to live there until I die. The thought of having to unpack another box simply does not thrill me. Here's one of Monterey, Ca:

7. Up until 5 months ago I have killed (not on purpose) every plant that I have ever owned. I was actually surprised when they let me bring my children home from the hospital.

I finally took the day to make some new wallets.... not that I don't love making clutches, but lately I've been feeling like I'm working in a sweatshop. I wanted to share some of the new wallets with you all. I'm really excited about Amy Butler's second run of her Full Moon fabric!

And another one that I just finished up:

Ah Ha!

When I was telling you about my workroom (which is now a huge mess again), I mentioned that I couldn't build a fire in my fireplace to save my life.

Well, I got motivated today..... or at least wanted to put off work and decided to make another try at a fire. Here are the results:

Pretty nifty, huh? AND I didn't need a man's help at all (or youtube's help, or google's help). Yep, I'm just that good!

the workroom

So I've been threatening to clean up my workroom for months now so I could post up some pictures of it. Once I get into work mode absolutely everything is in disarray. And it's scary. So I finally decided to take a few pictures of it so ya'll can get a little peek at where I work. Or try to work.

Fabric and random things that I "need". Like I definitely needed that cupcake pillow from Nomi. :)

My tiny spot where I sew and sketch, and the fireplace that I insisted that I would use "like, everyday.". Do you know how many times I've used it? Once, the other day. And it turns out that I cannot start a fire to save my life. Oh well....

I planning on setting up all my old books above the fireplace. I've found the perfect bookends to buy here. Aren't those perfect??

laci needs to reopen her etsy shop....

My friend, Laci spins the most incredible yarn! I was so excited when she decided to take up this new craft so I could get my yarn through her. My yarn shop in town (where I used to get my handspun and organic yarn) had closed down, without giving me ANY notice, a few months earlier. So I was really (probably overly) excited about it. To my complete and utter dismay, she closed her etsy shop just after a few months.

BUT

at least I can get her yarn here

I just got in a new hank of yarn from her today- which was such a nice surprise since it wasn't just bills in the mailbox.

Isn't that just yummy looking????

Now, I feel that it is my duty to bug her like crazy to re-open her etsy shop. Who's with me???

FINALLY!!!

I waited and waited and mulled over it for weeks.... but I finally broke down and bought a sweet little doll from Evangelione's shop on etsy!

Her name is Audrey and she is adorable

and I figured, why now get a little bow.....

I have no clue if it's for the doll or for a "real" person.... maybe it will give me some incentive to grow out my hair (which I keep wanting to do, but give up when it gets to that weird in between stage).

I am so excited that Valentine's Day is right around the corner. I love making little Valentine's Day mail boxes with Layla and this year I convinced her that we should make valentines for her class instead of getting store bought ones. Etsy has a tutorial on matchbook valentines, so I think we're going to make these and fill them with little conversation hearts!!

I think that they'll look so sweet and all the little girls in her class will love them!! I'm so glad that she's finally at that age where we can start crafting together.

On another note, I have fabric.com pulled up in another tab..... I'm trying to justify buying 70.00 worth of fabric.... hmmmm....
